Review of Lars and the Real Girl (2007) by Tuckerm. — 01 Nov 2007
I adored this film, and was blown away by the degree to which it takes an utterly outlandish premise and spins it into gold. No, it's not realistic, and yes, it's a fairy tale. But to me, it represents real humanity at its best.
And the understated power of the uniformly superb acting (particularly from Patricia Clarkson) is simply not to be missed. Bravo, Craig Gillespie, Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul Schneider and Nancy Oliver; you broke my heart, then made it whole again.
