Review of Lars and the Real Girl (2007) by Jake T — 16 Apr 2011
This film is based on a concept that shouldn't work, but Lars and the Real Girl goes beyond its strange premise and produces a film that is incredibly sweet and unbelievably touching. Gillespie has treated his characters with incredible compassion and doesn't turn it into a farce where most filmmakers would have.
Combined with fantastic performances from all involved, especially Ryan Gosling, who continues to be one of the most interesting actors currently working, Lars and the Real Girl is quite possibly the sweetest film ever made.
