Review of Lars and the Real Girl (2007) by Ayu F — 29 May 2012
Heartwarming film about a delusional man falling in love and having a relationship with a life-size doll. This disorder stemmed primarily from his fear of intimacy and fear of abandonment. However, after looking at the way his friends, family and community embrace his delusion and play along by treating his life-size doll as if she were his real girlfriend he comes to realize that people do love him.
An eccentric and funny film about how normal "odd" people are when you get to know them. Ryan Gosling does a brilliant job in letting us get to know his character.
