Review of Lars and the Real Girl (2007) by Jon P — 29 Apr 2014
Ryan Gosling gives a spectacularly shady performance with added paedo-moustache in Craig Gillespie's outlandish pscho-drama. Both bizarro black comedy and drama of delusion, Gillespie's film raises eyebrows, intrigue and spirits as Gosling's character's synthetic girlfriend cements her place in his world's creepy community.
Tender, touching and wonderfully awkward, Lars and The Real Girl is a must-see for anyone with a taste for the bittersweet.
