Review of Lars and the Real Girl (2007) by Fallon B — 10 Mar 2015
If I asked someone of what their favorite Ryan Gosling movie, they would probably say Drive or some other movie. When they asked me, I will say that Lars and the Real Girl which they would either say that I'm weird for saying that or asking what that's about.
This could've been so predictable or mean-spirited, but when the therapist said to "keep it straight", that's when it got me invested. Ryan Gosling is fantastic in this and so are the cast too.
It does have some hilarious moments, but it's actually not from Bianca. Nancy Oliver did a great job with the script and wrote the characters so well and memorable. The chemistry between Lars and Bianca is really good and actually felt like a real human relationship like the other romance movies.
There are some sad moments that are really effective. The plot feels so natural and it feels like something that can happen in real life. Lars and the Real Girl is one of the best romance movies I have seen and I hope that this get more well-known.
