Review of Larry Crowne (2011) by Sebastian O — 29 Nov 2013
Had a few laughs, but the film was generally unconvincing, and somewhat confusing in regard to the time frame. Where the story seems to have lasted two weeks, it turned out to be a whole semester. However, I did appreciate its cast.
Hanks' neighbour in the film, Cedric the Entertainer, was especially funny. In comparison, the main cast (Hanks and Roberts) were extremely 2-dimensional, and it in fact seems that Roberts changed her personality completely overnight towards the end of the film.
Quite disappointing for such an acclaimed actor, who knows how to pick a film, direct something so poor (especially compared to the critical success of his directorial debut).
