Review of Larry Crowne (2011) by Sgt. C — 12 Mar 2014
(32%).
In all honesty, this is not really very good, but it's such a hard film to dislike as Hanks is so likeable as a person that he just about saves the movie from falling apart. The thin script doesn't really have a third act, and it really runs out of pace and direction about halfway through. Most feel-good films go very low and quite dark (It's a wonderful life) before raising the spirits to an even higher level, this on the other hand simply dips its toes in the gloom and quickly pulls them out. Overall it's not great, but it's not really terrible, just very unremarkable.
