Review of Larry Crowne (2011) by David S — 20 Nov 2011
Even though this movie disappointed critics & audiences expecting more from the star power, it's a real sleeper, worth a second watch for the many stories it tells about people's lives in these times.
Larry goes to college after the 3D's (divorce, downsizing & disposition, being "underwater" with his mortgage) where he meets Professor Julia Roberts, burned out teacher who drinks too much, while her unemployed husband watches porno all day on the Internet, claiming he's now a blogger.
Written & directed by Hanks, it's suble and well done. It may take a few years but this will become a favorite. It's about friendship & transformation.
