Review of Larry Crowne (2011) by Jake L — 30 Nov 2011
We should not take the current economic situation so lightly as this movie does. For many, hard working americans (so unlike the cronies at the mythical Umart), this is a serious recession, in some cases life threatening.
Take Larry with the foreclosure but needing bypass operation (or just die), and no medical, as a more realistic statement of what has occurred. The movie was very bland, no real conflict, find it hard to root for anyone in this movie.
You know my dad's generation (the one that went through the depression), was filled with guys who would volunteer and give, I see many parallels in people around me at work. The way this movie portrays americans as basically out for themselves, and accepting that as good, is ridiculous and very hard to get behind.
Larry, accepting his job at the burger joint, that is not leadership man, this country should not accept this as the way to go, as it will only lead to more financial ruin in this country. Our national debt is 14 trillion and counting thanks in large part to people having to accept lower pay (or starvation, death).
