Review of Larger than Life (2006) by Peter Michael B — 11 Dec 2009
Almost certainly Bill Murrays worst outing since Meatballs, Larger than life is pointless and it rambles, but it rambles funny. Bill Murray plays the old Bill Murray as usual, and it is endearing as always, but the show is stolen by the supporting cast. Matthew McConaughey is nearly unrecognizable in this early role, but he is hilarious. The Semi truck scene in the desert is a classic. The best is saved for the ALWAYS strong Keith David as the oily, corrupt railway employee looking out for number one: himself.
While I have enjoyed the new Bill Murray, it would be nice to see him revisit the old guy once and gain. Hell, he got a lot of mileage out of him. Bob Wiley, anyone?
