Review of L'Argent (1983) by Donovan D — 07 Dec 2007
Surprisingly effective film by one of my least favorite auteurs. Bresson's selfish auteurism and the wooden acting of the models is as distracting as always, but the film as a whole rises above such limitations because of its expansiveness.
The final result: a scathing portrayal of the corrupting and destructive power of money that is quite possibly Bresson's best work.
