Review of L'Argent (1983) by Miles S — 10 May 2008
Bresson's last film certainly doesn't stray far from the rest of his ouvre. His own brand of minimalism had long been perfected, and with L'Argent Bresson is truly looking for a new dramatic form.
The acting, as always, is quite wooden, but with Bresson it suits the films existential tones perfectly. It's like Camus on film. My one fault with the story is it's total cause-and-effect narrative, every plot element tracing itself back to a single moment.
It's still quite amazing, however.
