Review of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) by Andrew G — 03 Feb 2010
It resembles Raiders of the Lost Ark more than it does Tomb Raider; this is a bad adaptation of a good video game series. Angelina Jolie has some level of resemblence to Lara Croft, but it's when she starts trying to act that her portrayal of the character begins to suffer.
The rest of the cast suffers, we get Americans trying to do a British Accent, and vise versa, so all of the Brits sounded cockney. The story wasn't handled that well, it sort of feels like they just wanted to make lots of action scenes with Lara Croft and they're think of a story as the action scenes came along.
The problem with this is that the action scenes seem too tame, it's standard and they're unimpressive. The film really doesn't have much going for it, unless you're easily impressed and you'll take any action scenes you can get.
