Review of Lantana (2001) by Wendy S — 18 May 2009
This film weaves character interactions in and out creating a somber tone approaching depression. Cheating runs rampant in several characters whose relationships are suffering, whose lives are troubled, and whose minds are confused.
Refraining from any fancy technical elements, this film allows the acting and character development to take the forefront. What seem to be strongly written characters based a stage play are effectively rendered ninety percent of the time and overacted on occasion.
This is a film I might not be mature enough to grasp yet, dealing with adult relationships and themes. Not a fast film.
