Review of Land of the Lost (2009) by Allegra S — 23 Oct 2010
I do recall being young and watching the television series. This version with Will Ferrell was given a big budget in order to make a effects laden kiddy comedy. The result is absolutely wretched and humour free.
Actually this is one of those films that kept me watching just to see how badly the jokes would come off - not to mention the lackluster action scenes. The plot revolves around a scientist Rick Marshall (Ferrell) who is sucked into a space-time vortex with a beautiful assistant (Anna Friel) and a redneck (Danny McBride).
They make friends with an odd little primate Chaka and then seek their way back home finding perils in dinosaurs and the dreaded Sleestak. Will Ferrell and Danny McBride's shtick does not work here and the toilet humour only finds groans.
Though I have never been a Brad Silberling fan, he seems far better suited to more dramatic films.
