Review of Land of the Lost (2009) by Bryan N — 04 Jan 2012
Pros: It's a funny yet very very sad thing to say that Matt Lauer was the best actor in this entire film. His cameo at the beginning and the end of the film are the two main highlights of this mega disaster of a summer movie. The detailed sets were very nice to look at. If you are the least bit amazed by set design this movie is like eye candy. Danny McBride for the most part is the salvation of this movie who once again shows off his great comedic timing consistently outshining and performing the ever dull Will Ferrell.
Cons: Will Ferrell. He once again gets stuck playing the same role he's been doing for the past ten years. Most if any of his lines in the film are usually not funny or jokes that just fizzle on impact. I for one could never buy this guy as a scientist for one second, even in a comedy. Anna Friel also shows us why she is acting on television (the now canceled Pushing Dasies) and not in movies. I think it should stay that way judging by her really horrible job in this movie. Overall the story (if there even is one) is just completely dumb and illogical. By the middle of this I already given up on hope this movie would find some way to redeem itself.
