Review of Land of the Dead (2005) by Rob C — 09 Mar 2010
George A. Romero delivered an exceptional film in Land of the Dead. This time around he gave intelligence to the undead, with thoughts and actions like that of an ordinary human; rather than having a mindless and dim-witted zombie.
It made for an enjoyable addition to his film roster with added ingenuity. Romero is well-known for his colorful display of carnage being distributed and Land of the Dead has it's fair share of it.
Each kill scene is laden with robust gore effects and his sinister array of grim atmospheric background shots and music. John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper provided equal charm in their deliveries and showcased more evil intentions than that of the undead.
Land of the Dead is an interesting take in the world of zombie filmmaking and I'm glad George A. Romero was behind the helm of it.
