Review of Land of the Dead (2005) by Jeff T — 13 Apr 2012
It has been almost 20 years since his just zombie flick series was made and this doesn't dissapoint. It has a real slick to it bringing it to the modern era and this is probably his gory outing yet of the series.
The difference is he has cast some well known names...Dennis Hopper being one of them, in which I like to think was his last great movie. The other cast are great too, even if they are on the menu and just predicting who's gonna snuff it.
It's a great idea that the human race have adapted to their surroundings, making a secure fortess in a city to prevent the zombies but as we know, this doesn't last for long. The gory scenes are great and awesomely slick.
The film breezes along at a perfect pace, with one gory scene after another and the twist that the zombies start to learn is a great new idea. Their are som many zombie films now but it's George A.
Romero that knows how do it and please us, no suprise as he wrote and directed it. Watch out for a cameo of Simon Pegg and Eger Wright. Some funny moments too.
