Review of Land of the Dead (2005) by Peter H — 03 Feb 2010
There are zombie movies but then there is a Romero zombie flick with social commentary of the era. Land of the dead is the first modern day romero Living Dead flick with Diary and Sirviual following. Although its the next instalment made 20 years after Day of the Dead was reslised in 1985 romero provies he is the master of the modern Zombie movie.
This Movies social comentary takes a swipe at the Bush admistartion with the ruler of fiddlers green being based upon a few of the key figures in the admistartion. The movie revoles around the idea that soldiers fighting the zombies are a well aware that the tables have turn agaist them ( like the situation in iraq and afganistan) while the adminstartion pretends that the sort lived victory against thier enemy still exists ( i.
E when bush falsey proclamed mision acomplished after the exectuion of sadaum).along with this social social comentary romero reflects other dark human falts such as the power of greed. the effects of course live up to the familliar gore found in a romero zombie flick.
4/5 a future cult classic.
