Review of Land Ho! (2014) by Sandy K — 26 Aug 2015
A nicely understated and completely unusual buddy road-trip story, of two men in their 60s -- cultural opposites, but fond of each other from past family connections -- who take a trip to Iceland together, each finding reasons to re-engage in life after disappointments.
The sexist boorishness of the forced-into-retirement Kentucky surgeon is often cringe-inducing, but the relationship between the two is often funny and entertaining; and the breathtaking Icelandic scenery alone makes this worth watching.
