This is a great movie from a terrific director. Powerful, moving, intelligent, it tells a Spanish Civil War story that borrows from Orwell and shows how the fighters in this battle for freedom turned on each other.
Art direction and sets are startling, the realism unnerving, the passion and sadness of it all just gets you. Wow!
