Raise your hand if you've seen this one! No one? OK Raise your hand if you've even heard of this one? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Given that its made less than $15,000 in its run so far chances are none of you have seen it much less heard of it. If any of you are fans of the Zellner Brothers or think Kid Thing was a great film, this may just be your cup of tea after all.

Upon losing his father to a mystery ailment, 47 year old David Lamb (writer/director/star Ross Partridge) who has been shagging a younger co-worker after his wife throws him out meets an 11 year old girl named Tommie (Oona Laurence) in a parking lot and a rather curious friendship begins to take form. At first it seems relatively harmless, even though it starts with a fake kidnapping to prove a point to Tommie about not trusting strangers. As the friendship evolves David ends up kidnapping her for real but to what end?

This one will get under your skin even though it plays it kind of safe given the youth of the actress involved. At just 13 years old in reality, they didn't get risque with the scenes but instead tinged them with just enough unpleasantness to let your mind wander. Its an interesting look at what happens to someone when they seem to lose everything all at once. His job forced him into taking time off though its not clear if that was over the death of his father or office romance. David's mom ran out when he was a kid and his wife left him. All alone and emotionally vulnerable while still technically an adult makes for an interesting mix.

This film is definitely not for everyone but I wager that it is both unique and different enough to be worth your 90 minutes of time some weekend when you're snowed in. Not for children though despite co-starring a child.

This Queen was left very, very disturbed. 3 out of 5 rainbows.

1 rainbow - How did this get funded?

2 rainbows - You might find something of interest here but unlikely.

3 rainbows - Serves as a useful and entertaining enough distraction as a matinee.

4 rainbows - Stop reading this review and find a theater showing this film now!

5 rainbows - I'll need to find a spot for this in my Top 100 list. Absolutely flawless.
