Review of LaLee's Kin: The Legacy of Cotton (2001) by Nathan H — 17 Jun 2008
A remarkable look at modern American poverty, and the cycle created and perpetuated by both slavery and wage slavery. This is a movie that is sometimes difficult to watch, but sheds lights on the origins of all those "F Schools," on all those crumbling houses and unpaved roads that we see from the highways; it is a movie that doesn't offer easy solutions, but a movie that documents the damages nonetheless, which is just as important.
