Review of Lake Placid (1999) by Baurushan J — 16 Oct 2012
The story is about an sheriff played by Brendan Gleeson who you may remember as Mad-Eye Moody from Harry Potter as he witnesses one of his mates having half of his body being eaten up by an animal in Lake Placid now known as Black Lake.
When the local fish and game warden led by Bill Pullman from Independence Day assigns a helper named Kelly who is a paleontologist played by Bridget Fonda from Jackie Brown. After hitting the 43-minute mark, the characters including mythology expert Hector played by Oliver Platt from 2012 find out that the monster living in the lake is actually an prehistoric Asian Pacific Crocodile that must have been flushed down the toilet and ended up in Lake Placid and they try to hunt it down.
They also find out that an old woman named Mrs.Bickerman has been feeding the animal for six years ever since she ended up on this place. If you want my honest opinion with this movie then this is how it goes.
The first forty minutes are so annoying and that comes from the characters as they do nothing but bitch and act like jackasses then the rest of the movie played out in an interesting way. Whilst the first forty minutes played out like Friday the 13th (2009), the rest of the movie seemed like the crocodile version of Anaconda (1997) and the most frustrating thing is that there are two sequels to this movie.
Lake Placid gets a 8/10 and I'm being nice only because it seems like an underrated horror movie and so I have to promote it out there for everyone to see how good this movie is.
