Review of Lake Placid (1999) by Magill F — 28 Apr 2009
A pretty lackluster monster flick, this attempt at a big-budget b-movie falls flat a lot of the time. There aren't nearly enough crocodile attacks, and the chemistry between the characters (particularly Bridget Fonda's and Bill Pullman's) is completely non-existant.
Oliver Platt is kinda fun as the kooky big-game croc hunter, but the real show-stealer is Betty White. Hearing one of the Golden Girls call Brendan Gleeson's character "Officer Fuckmeat" is almost worth watching the movie for, but you're probably better off finding the clip on Youtube.
