Review of Lake Placid (1999) by Dave S — 23 Jan 2011
Some snappy dialogue from David E. Kelley can't save this movie from being what it is... a substandard monster flick with comedic pretensions. Betty White using f-bombs had a minor shock value when it came out, but this sure hasn't aged well. Actually, it wasn't that great the first time around, now that I think of it.
Bridget Fonda looks sassy.
Bill Pullman looks rumpled but avuncular.
Oliver Platt looks like a mess.
All that said, I ate popcorn and watched it.
The fact that it spawned two sequels troubles me while leaving me utterly unsurprised.
