Review of Lake Placid (1999) by Peter W — 15 Jul 2011
I've always had a soft spot for Bridget Fonda, which is interesting since I really don't care for any of the other Fondas. However, this movie just wasn't as good as I was hoping, and her character was too much of a whiner with no personality. It is not awful for what it is - a campy horror movie (more of a spoof). Betty White is astounding as the woman behind the "monster." The main thing I found lacking was the horror. There was little or no tension or suspense, no scares, no thrills. There was also no chemistry between Fonda and Pullman. Worth viewing on a slow night.
