Review of Lake Placid (1999) by Bryan K — 18 Nov 2012
Though this film flirts with the line of becoming cheesy instead of amusing, there is enough here to make this one worth watching. The R rating allows the characters to be as curt as needed to convey the culture clash of small time cops and big city academics, and the side story of the old lake mother is exactly the twist needed (this woman tells the sheriff she killed her husband and he just rolls his eyes).
For what it is, this one is worth the 85 minutes.
