Review of Lake Mungo (2009) by Roger T — 14 May 2011
It was a mock-documentary ghost story. The actors in the film were so believable that you really begin to feel as if you're watching an actual documentary on TV. It wasn't so scary to me as it was just unsettling.
..it wasn't the sort of movie that goes "boom" then you scream. It had a lot of back story & moved at a slow pace. The fault, a big one, I found was that it didn't tie every loose end together.
..not all the questions were answered not everything seemed to make complete sense (although this is very common in real documentaries). So I was left disappointed at the end. A big remake, from the makers of The Ring, is coming out soon so I'll be excited to see how that compares to this one.
Only watch this if you are in the mood for a slow-paced scary movie that lacks jump scares, but otherwise I would skip it. It's almost like watching an episode of Unsolved Mysteries that just ran 30 mins over.
