Review of Lake Mungo (2009) by Krys L — 04 Nov 2012
A marvelous accomplishment for a 'horror' film because it does what it set out to without once resorting to the clichà (C) antics usually employed by the genre. Using the style of a finely crafted A&E documentary, this film leaves the viewer genuinely unsettled, perhaps even mildly disturbedâ"if you're the kind of person who enjoys supernatural thrillers.
The actors are profoundly convincing and Joel Anderson's tale is told so well that your imagination does almost all of the work, which, in my opinion, is exactly what a great horror film should do.
Because nothing is ever quite as spooky as the dark recesses of one's own mind. Loved it.
