Review of Laid to Rest (2009) by Robert P — 22 Jun 2009

This is one of the few films of it's kind that actually delivers what it says it will do. The film promises much gore and that's exactly what you get. It's opening titles reminded me of the first nightmare On Elm Street film where you see Freddy making his glove as here, you see "Chromeskull" making his gear (also, the title music reminded me of the Nightmare On Elm Street series). The film moves at a great pace and unusually for a film like this, you actually get a feel for the various characters before they meet their end I rather blody ways. The only let downs are the fact that it's quite predictable and just over half way through, there is a scene where the Morgue owner is complaining to Chromeskull about the smell from the barn and that he needs to do something about it. This really spoilt the character of Chromeskull for me asbefore this, you really get the sense that he's a nomadic killer jsut roming about killing for the sake of it and generally being a sadistic bastard to everyone he meets. If this scene was missing, the film would have got a 5 star rating from me, but it killed off some of his mean streak for me.

Having said that, it's a very well made film and one that I know I'll enjoy again and again.
