Review of Laid to Rest (2009) by Scott I — 03 Mar 2012
Brutal horror fun. A mental in a chrome skull is responsible for several murders and now he's after a young woman who escaped his evil clutches. The girl in question wakes up in a coffin with no idea who she is or how she got there.
When she manages to escape you know its only a matter of time before she gets tracked down. Cue plenty of tension, gore and the odd bit of sly humour as the girl meets a couple of would be helpers along the way but you generally get the feeling they're doomed! This is a bit like a homage to 80's slasher films and doesn't try to be to be to clever like alot of the "torture porn" horrors nowadays but instead goes straight for beautiful brutality.
With a pretty cool twist towards the end to, along with a great performance from Bobbi Sue Luther, Laid to Rest could definately become a cult classic.
