Review of Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) by Pedro P — 14 Jan 2008
Surprisingly, the best sports movie I have ever seen. By the end of this three hour movie, you actually understand cricket and instead of that being a horrible experience, Aamir Khan does an excellent job keeping you on the edge of your seat.
Most sports movies are about multi million dollar players. This one is about a starving villiage and an oppresive british imperial presence. If this sounds boring to you I have done a horrible job explaining it and you should go see it anyway.
Khan had an eye for western markets when he made this film I think.
