Review of Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) by Pat L — 07 Jun 2008
One of our family's favorite movies. If a musical that's almost 4 hours long can hold the attention of me (who as a general rule hates musicals), my wife (who likes simple, gentle stories) and my daughter (who likes cartoons), you know it's great.
The movie deals with issues of race, class and sacrifice. We're looking forward to seeing it again. A beautiful exploration of the caste system and why it needs to die.
