Review of Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) by Muntasim T — 14 Oct 2011
At last, saw this 3 hour 40 minute epic, and it was worth it! A rousing commentary on colonialism, exploitation, feudalism, caste system and how a game can help people unite and confront oppressors, this is a masterpiece of movie making, and a memorable offering from the director Ashutosh Gowariker and super star Aamir Khan.
I can only regret not watching it earlier and hope to make up for it by watching more Hindi films in the days to come! Highly recommended for fans of period pieces and sports films, and good movies in general.
