Review of Ladyhawke (1985) by Debbie W — 06 May 2011
I've seen this film so many times, I have the dialogue memorized. When my kids were small we watched it together over and over. The dialogue is crummy, the acting is second rate, some aspects of it are just plain weird and still I love it.
I love the giant horse. I love the sword that is way too big to weild, let alone pitch across a room and skewer someone to a chair. I love the luminousity (is that a word?) of the young Michelle Pfeiffer.
I love the character of Phillipe. I love Rutger Hauer in one of his very few non-scary bad guy roles. I love dirty, smelly old Imperious. I love seeing Alfred Molina in one of his earliest speaking parts.
I even love the acting-challenged John Wood. No accounting for taste I guess.
