Review of Ladyhawke (1985) by Tim F — 19 Aug 2011
A fun fantasy piece more restrained than most which will effect how mch enjoyment you get out of it. Rutger and michelle are great in it and display an amazing prescence when ever they are on screen. The hawk and wolf scenes are incredibley well shot and the hawk especially emotes quite well :D Broderick essentially plays a descendent of ferris bueller and to be honest never seems to gell with the rest of the film.
A man out of place. I guess this was for the audience, him been a view we can see the film through but for me it distanced me from the film as his character never seemed to click. The music is fantastic throughout and in contrast to what I said before does work in the movie even thou its 80s synth pop! The bishop is the evil baddy here and hes ok but like his right hand man and the hunter alfred molina never seem to get enough screen time to be truly effective.
The main problem I have with this is nothing much really happens. The landscapes are amazing to look at and as the characters walk through it almost dream like you see that essentiallly all that happens for most of this movie is people walk a bit and have a chat.
This is fine but in a fantasty style movie I guess I expected a little more. could be just me been picky! Its def fun to watch at least once thou and paves the way for the goonies so its all good :D.
