Review of Lady Vengeance (2005) by Anthony K — 25 Jun 2008
While not as jaw dropping as Oldboy, nor as emotionally devastating as Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, this final film is just as good and a worthy inclusion to the trilogy. Where the other films took vengeance to its dirty unhappy conclusion, showing how nobody wins when it comes to revenge, this film (dare I say it) actually has a happyish ending.
It was much more light hearted than the other two, but that isn't saying much. The humor is still pitch black, and those that shy away from edgy harsh cinema should steer clear. This one isn't as gory as the other 2, but it still has some squeamish scenes.
If you were a fan, check it out for sure. And if you are not aware or haven't seen the other films, check it out as well. You don't need to have seen those to get this at all. But be aware that this isn't be best film of the 3.
