Review of Lady Vengeance (2005) by Luke E — 02 May 2012
A fitting finale to Park Chan Wook's Brilliant Vengeance Trilogy. Much like the previous two films; it focuses on Violent but sentimental themes of Vengence and prosperity. The film owes itself most to main star Lee Yeong-ae Powerhouse Performance for a heroine consistanly plotting revenge after being force to confessing to a crime she didn't comit.
Chan Wook plays more with the time structuring here in his script almost reminisant to Tarantino but more thoughtful and engaging like Guillermo Arriaga, it alo focuses on the diverse charcter range than multiple narrative.
Like Oldboy it uses orchestral soundtrack to add to the beauty imagery and violence that serves the plot. Highly recomended to a mature adult audience like its predecesors, you really have to see what a marvel South Korean cinema has become within recent years.
