Review of Lady Vengeance (2005) by Sasha C — 17 Jul 2008
A beautifully shot movie with incredible use of symbolism and color. The cinematography in all three of the Vengeance Trilogy is superb. This movie is not as good as Oldboy, but better than Sympathy for Mr.
Vengeance. There's a wonderful balance between beauty and darkness, between guilt and innocence, between the darkness of human sin and of humor. Some of the scenes meant to be disturbing are so horrible that it's almost comedic.
For some reason, I couldn't sympathize with the pain of the families at the end, so I'm tempted to blame that on a lack of character development, but I don't think that's quite it. Maybe I've become desensitized from watching Sympathy for Mr.
Vengeance and Oldboy. Great movie though.
