Review of Lady Macbeth (2016) by Andrey B — 21 Oct 2017

I don't want to say that I didn't like the movie, it is indeed ruthless and brutal being faithful to the literary source. But I felt the performances were out of place: more like people of the 21st century act in a 19th century environment.

And I'm rather dubious about the ending: I think it was a weakness on the part of the director to simplify the story and leave out the crucial second part of the novel to make his own contribution in the modern theme of empowerment of women.
