Review of Lady Macbeth (2016) by Scott M — 06 Apr 2018
Lady Macbeth is an absorbing character study/revenge piece sparked by the feminine isolation and oppression that is sort of inherent to the given time period. The filmmaking is top-notch too; a calm camera, no music, long takes, etc.
chillingly contrast the heinous acts that elevate throughout the film. One of the big highlights is newcomer Florence Pugh's unreal central performance - she has many projects ahead in her future after this.
