Review of Lady Macbeth (2016) by Vic L — 09 May 2017
Tension filled period piece based on Lady Macbeth of the Mtensk. Sexy and grotesquely frightening, the title role of Katherine is played chillingly by Florence Pugh and the film provokes much thought about themes of race, class, power, mysogeny and violence which could be as true today as they were back in 19th Century when the film was set.
Absorbing and atmospheric with superb performances all around, especially the role of Anna, the mute maid and Katherine. Highly recommended.
