Review of Lady Killer (1933) by Ben R — 03 Oct 2008
Pretty standard entry in the gangster genre, notable for Cagney attempting to one-up his grapefruit-in-the-face scene from Public Enemy by dragging the same actress through an apartment by her hair and giving her a swift kick in the pants.
This one starts off as a gangster pic, becomes a Hollywood parody, and then unbelievably tries to mingle the two in the final act. It doesn't quite work, but Cagney is always watchable.
