Review of Lady Jane (1986) by Caitlin S — 17 Aug 2008
Historical dramas do tend to put me to sleep. I only bought this to complete my Cary Elwes collection, but it soon became a favourite. H B Carter and Elwes are both fantastic, the script is very well-written, the music is fitting, and it's not a minute too long.
If it happened anything like this film suggests, then Lady Jane Grey is a great idol of mine, and for sure the only figure of history that I'm at all interested in. A genuine artwork and no too great an emphasis can be put on Helena Bonham Carter's outstanding performance.
