Review of Lady in White (1988) by Matt B — 11 Oct 2016
Lady In White is a strange beast that could only have came from the 80's. This supposed "family horror film" could've been much worse if the odd plot and visual luster weren't there to pin us down.
I believe the movies biggest asset is truly in its visuals. The shots of fall in New York are exquisitely done and the surreal dream sequences are filled with charmingly dated special-effects. The plot however is not as strong.
To me it comes off as some sort of retelling of To Kill a Mockingbird ran through a pulpy giallo filter. There's cheese here, and there's quite a bit but I don't think it stands to ruin the film in the eyes of a less cynical viewer.
If you want to see an unusual chiller from the 80's you could do worse but as always, see for yourself!
