Review of Lady in the Water (2006) by Mitchel S — 13 Apr 2010
I was going to write a review for this, but then I saw my good friend Tom McGann's review on this, and I agree, so I am reposting it.
Tom says:
"How do you have a movie with amazing acting, a potentially epic/suspenseful plot, an intriguing, fairytale premise, and a few pretty great characters but still have a terrible movie? ask M. Night Shyamalan. If Shyamalan would have taken more time develop the complex fairy tale premise then implemented it into the movie instead of putting the majority of his work into making arrogant statements against film critics and the world at large, this movie would probably have been amazing. So, why is it that the rogue wolf killed the film critic when the entire point was that it was supposed to go undetected except to kill the narf? I guess he could argue that it was a rogue so it breached the agreement in every way, but what could it possibly have had against the film critic? I guess the wolf's motives were more synonymous with Shyamalan's than those of his premise. We now know that when Shyamalan's feeling pissy, he has no problem sacrificing his work.".
Well put old chap.
