Review of Lady in the Water (2006) by Marlon W — 16 Oct 2010
I'm a strong supporter for M. Night Shyamalan, with friends and critics bashing most of his films I always have been there to give a lighter side on his films giving his last three horror movies fresh ratings. Lady in the Water was the one I haven't seen other then The Last Airbender.
This film was based on a children's book he wrote for his kids. Paul Giamatii plays Cleveland Heep an handyman in a apartment complex surronded by a buch of strange people. He's trying to figure out who's the person who's been swimming at night in the pool. Once he finds her she's a narf who's in danger.
I must admitt is by far the weakest film he has done. It's very silly and overplotted. The film as well drags it's premise too far to the point of feeling get it over with will ya. On the postive light the movie is well made and well acted. As well like all Shyamalan films it's a good looking film.
It's not a perfect film but I like how it was silly and I understand what Shyamalan was trying to tell us. Although I do feel he needs to get back on track. He's producing a new film called Devil that comes out in September. It looks promising.
MP *** (A very generous rating) 3/5.
