Review of Lady Bird (2017) by Rita T — 01 Dec 2017
It was a fine, competently made flick, but it wasn't anything special. It was good enough that Greta should be able to continue making movies. There are other movies that work in the same coming-of-age space a lot more effectively.
Certain scenes (the bathroom stall scene, and a few others) weren't given the breathing room they needed to have the impact that was intended, so when the ramifications came back around later, those scenes lacked weight.
Overall good. Definitely a 100% film. We have a few too many fans of The Emperor's New Clothes, and people need to start having their own ideas.
