Review of Lady Bird (2017) by Edward P — 04 Dec 2017
This movie is amazing. The main character lady bird, played by Saoirse Ronan, struggles fighting for independence from her mother and beliefs that are placed on her by society and her Catholic school. She wants to leave the slow, boring and uncultured life in Sacramento for a more diverse and sophisticated lifestyle on the East Coast, primarily New York.
Her growth and struggle in finding herself also help those who are close to her, such as her first boyfriend, brother and mother. The characters were warm and charming and despite Saorise's naive attitude and irrational decisions, her character was still lovable and had a memorable charm to her.
Lady Bird is a fun and heart warming film but can be devastating and intense when it needs to. Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster.
